HOW YOU CAN HELP CONTINUE A NEW POLITICAL ERA IN THE COUNTY
A new political era has begun in Calvert County. When sworn in on December 21, for the first time all five Calvert County Commissioner seats will be held by Republicans: Susan Shaw, Jerry Clark, Pat Nutter, Evan Slaughenhoupt and Steve Weems. When the General Assembly convenes in January, our Republican District 29C Delegate, Minority Leader Tony O’Donnell will be joined by a Republican Delegate from District 27B, Mark Fisher.
Locally, citizens also re-elected Republicans Sheriff Mike Evans, State’s Attorney Laura Martin, County Treasurer Nova Tracy-Soper and Orphans Court Judge Leslie Downs. Our Congressional candidate Charles Lollar decisively carried 3 (Calvert, Anne Arundel and St. Mary’s ) of the 5 Counties in the 5th Congressional District
The election may be over, but we must now focus on what takes place in Annapolis. It’s time for some serious state budget cutting without simply dumping current state costs such as teacher’s retirement pensions onto Maryland counties. It also time to give Marylander's a voice in our own redistricting and stop the gerrymandering by the Democrats who want to save their incumbents.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Want to have a say? A voice? Stay involved and help us as we speak out for equal representation.
We are currently forming a committee to work on redistricting; if you are interested in helping, please contact us at: calvertgop.hq@verizon.net.
