ACTION ALERT! - HB 156 Fairness in Girls' Sports
Below is an email from Delegate Szeliga's office urging our active support for HB 156 - Fairness in Girls' Sports. The hearing is in Ways & Means on Wednesday, January 29th at 1 p.m. The Committee is allowing only the chief sponsor of the bill to testify in person. However, you can submit written testimony and/or send emails of phone calls of support to the members of the W&M Committee to vote in favor of HB 156. Written testimony must be submitted on Monday, January 27 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Your help is needed now.

Mom's for Liberty Succeeds in Halting Title IX Changes
See the News Update from the "Moms for Liberty" regarding a Federal Judge's Order regarding the implementation of the Final Rule from the U.S. Department of Education regarding use of bathrooms, showers, locker rooms and sleeping rooms at schools receiving any Federal funds based on gender identity.
The Order stops the implementation of the Final Rule in 4 states, but it also prohibits implementation in schools where plaintiff organization's children attend until a full hearing and ruling on the case by Federal courts is completed.
Joint Republican Caucus Releases First “Moore Taxes, Moore Fees” Report
Annapolis, Md – In an OpEd published today, the Joint Republican Caucus issued the first “Moore Taxes, Moore Fees” report of the current four-year term.
Since taking office in 2023, Governor Moore and the Democratic Supermajority are responsible for a staggering 338 new or increased taxes and fees.

Twenty-two days till Sine Die! New revenue generators, taxes, fees and tolls top the discussion list today.
On Friday, Speaker of the House Adrienne Jones and Ways and Means Chairman Vanessa Atterbeary announced major plans to increase revenue by passing corporate tax changes and internet gaming (casino-style games played on smart phones, computers and other electronic devices) to increase revenue by $1.3 billion a year. Internet gaming would have to be approved by the voters before implementation. Senate President Ferguson has said the Senate is not ready to pass tax increases this year. Let's encourage him and the Senate to hold that position.

Governor Moore has requested nearly 250 fee increases through regulation and legislation.
Last Monday, the State announced a "$250 million write-down", which means people are buying less, therefore there's less tax revenue. Marylanders are feeling their budgets strained by inflation. Yet, the solution in Annapolis is to take more of your money.
